Being well established as leaders in safety at height, we are contacted with inquiries about all kinds of safety components and systems. While the majority of our work has to be carried out by us to ensure that it is fully certified and installed to the highest standard, we also supply certain components which can be installed and used by the customer themselves. These include:
- Pallet Gates- Mezzanine and Loading Bay Protection
- Kee Cover- Roof Light Protection
- Kee Gate- Self-Closing Safety Gates
- PFPE- Personal Fall Prevention Equipment
Pallet Gates - Mezzanines
Our range of pallet gates has recently been introduced to meet a demand for a safety design which would provide permanent protection around loading bays on raised working areas.
For use in a guardrail or safety barrier system, the pallet gate ensures continuous protection where goods are being loaded, ensuring there is no void where a fall could occur.
The pallet gate comes in 4 different options to suit the required need, and all are compliant with EN 14122-3 for assured safe operation.
Industrial Safety Gates
Our Kee Gate self-closing safety gate is included in many of our guardrail designs at points of access or egress, including ladder access, access hatches or for access to machinery or equipment. We also supply the safety gates separately for use in many other applications.
Factory use and the manufacturing industry has a huge requirement, as these often contain numerous hazards such as electrical equipment, machinery crossings and hazardous waste. These hazards can be contained with guardrail, but workers still require access to their working areas. Compliant with EN 14122 and CE marked for safe operation, the Kee Gate is spring loaded to automatically close behind the user. This ensures that there is never a gap left in the system, and eliminates the risk of a an accident due to human error.
Roof Light Protection
Fragile roof panels and skylights are a major safety hazard on roofs, and many falls from height are as a result of these. They are often very hard to notice, especially when concentrating on works or carrying something.
The Kee Cover was created to provide a cost-effective solution to this problem. Kee Klamp fittings, tubing and a mesh panel are used to create a strong and durable solution, which will still allow light to pass through as intended.
The Kee Cover has been fully tested and has resisted a 1,200 Joule test carried out to BS EN 1873.
Personal Fall Prevention Equipment
Skyway also supplies Personal Fall Prevention Equipment, such as harnesses, lanyards, shuttles and karabiners. Our safety at height experts can recommend which equipment you require, depending on the cable system which has been installed and whether it has been installed for "fall arrest or fall prevention".
Using the wrong equipment can often have very grave consequences, and may even place you at greater risk should a fall occur. This is another reason why PPE should be checked before every use to ensure that it is fit for its purpose and hasn't experienced any damage.
Ask the Experts
With anything safety related, the main rule should always be to avoid carrying out any works unless you are sure about what you are dealing with. If you cannot avoid a dangerous scenario, then there is a hierarchy of control which needs to be implemented to ensure that the required safety measures are in place. The consequences of an accident are far too great to be taking any chances.
So if in doubt, always ask the experts.
