In July of 2015, we completed our works on the Ballymena Health Centre in County Antrim. The Project scope was to "Provide a Designated Safe Access Route to a Series of Standing Seam Monopitch Roofs".
The full system included 380 metres of KeeWalk rooftop walkway, including traverse walkways and stepped sections for ascending each roof. Initial access to the roof area was made possible by way of a PivotLoc ladder, which allows the user to connect via their PPE.
Eoin Ryan, Design Engineer:
"The challenge was to provide systems that were discreet and effective, with minimal roof and flashing penetrations, and that's just what we delivered, with concealed walkways and platforms that are not visually imposing from the roadside. We provided a designated safe access route to a series of standing seam mono-pitched roofs, and the equipment we installed now enables initial access to the roof area through the use of a PivotLoc ladder".
"When the roof is ascended, the operative is in a safe location away from the roof edge when they disconnect. The Kee Walk walkway then enables safe traverse to the necessary roof locations. The ships ladder (complete with handrail and ladder platform) allows access across each individual roof pitch, where it is met by the stepped walkway to lead down the roofs pitch to the traverse walkway."

Safe Access to all Areas
The full system allowed for safe access to all areas of maintenance, to allow maintenance personnel and operatives to carry out their duties. The appropriate PPE needs to be used to climb the ladder to get to the roofs surface, and you are attached to this ladder the whole way. It is only when the user is a safe distance away from the roof edge when they are to disconnect and travel the rest of the course using the Kee Walk system.
About Kee Walk:
Kee Walk is a roof walkway system which provides a safe anti-slip surface. It sets out a clear demarcated route which not only provides safe access but also protects the roof from unnecessary damage. The system can be installed on flat, barrel and sloping roofs up to 35°.
