We were recently asked to provide a safe access solution to a hospital rooftop in the Southeast. Access was required for general maintenance and KEEGUARD would provide an ideal solution.
Rooftops also often contain equipment such as air conditioning units which require regular maintenance. For this reason, a guardrail system which provides collective protection is often the best solution.
KeeGuard Guardrail Systems
The KEEGUARD guardrail system was the chosen method of protection as it provided collective edge protection. This eliminated the need for PPE and training and also ensured that the roof membrane would not be compromised. This is because KEEGUARD is completely freestanding, due to its counterbalanced system which operates with the use of weights.
Steps And Changes In Levels
In the picture below, the level of the guardrail has been risen to match the step in the roof surface across a small parapet wall. This is to ensure that the minimum height is reached from the roof surface to the top of the guardrail. In cases similar to this, our bespoke roof stepovers can be used to traverse such a hazard.
The Installation Process
The guardrail installation process was quick and easy, ensuring minimal noise and disruption. This is often a necessity in cases such as hospitals or school buildings, where disruption to patients or pupils needs to be kept to an absolute minimum.
