Exposed Roof Lights-Eliminate the Hazard
Kee Cover is the premier solution to protecting workers from dangerous roof lights. Designed especially for metal profile roofs, the panel consists of a metal frame which supports a protective mesh panel.
According to figures published by the Health and Safety Authority, there were 55 workplace fatalities in 2015. 15 of these were caused by vertical impact as a result of a fall. When people hear of a fatality as a result of a fall from height, we often think of the construction industry. However many of these accidents in 2015 occurred throughout different industries.
Roof lights which are left uncovered are incredibly dangerous, as they do not stand out from the rest of the roof, and for this reason are not easily spotted. Whilst carrying out roof maintenance, workers minds are often preoccupied with the job at hand, and this can lead to complacency. Building owners have a duty of care to protect all workers from potential hazards, and the Kee Cover allows them to do that by providing permanent fragile roof protection.
The panels are available in either a standard or raised format, and extension panels are also available for larger spans:
The standard panels connect flat along the cladding, for roof lights which are uniform with the roof surface. This option will prevent the worker from falling through the roof, but will not stop the roof light from being shattered.
A raised panel is mounted on small legs to maintain a distance off the roof light. In this case, the roof light is not damaged in the event of a fall, as the Kee Cover would protect it from any impact.
Fully Tested Roof Light Protection
The Kee Cover is fully tested and fully meets the requirements of the ACR Red Book Test for Non-Fragility of Roof Assemblies. In addition to additional testing, a 1200 joule test has been carried out to BS EN 1873.
Being comprised of separate components, the Kee Cover can be easily transported to the roof surface, ensuring no unnecessary hardship in the process. The system then eliminates the hazard completely, ensuring that nobody can fall through the roof light. The mesh infills do not stop light from travelling though, ensuring the roof lights continue to retain their purpose.
