“Separating People from Hazards” is at the core of our business so we are pleased to be an official partner of Construction Safety Week.
Running from Monday 21st October – Friday 25th October 2019, Construction Safety Week is working with companies in the industry to highlight the issues of health and safety in the Irish construction industry and to drive continual improvement. Each day this week focuses on a specific topic:
- Monday 21st – Mental Health & Wellbeing in Construction
- Tuesday 22nd – Working Safely with Electricity
- Wednesday 23rd -Working Safely at Heights
- Thursday 24th – Vehicle Risk & Safety in Lifting Operations
- Friday 25th – Working Safely with Hazardous Substances
As one of Ireland’s leading fall protection businesses, Wednesday’s Working Safely at Heights topic is extremely important to us. This year’s HSA report on construction related fatal accidents identified that between 1989 and 2016, the single most common cause of fatal accidents was falling from a height. These accounted for 40% of all deaths in the construction sector and 49% in non-construction businesses engaged in construction activity such as agriculture, manufacturing and public administration. By helping to educate people in the industry on safe working practices and raising awareness of the dangers associated with work at height, we can hopefully help to reduce the number of fatalities in the future.
