As part of a strategic campus development project, the new building required a safe, regulation-compliant rooftop access system to protect maintenance personnel working at height.

A well-known construction firm overseeing the project issued a tender for a top-fix guardrail system. Based on our strong industry reputation and early engagement, Skyway was awarded the subcontract to supply and install the Top-Fix Guardrail and Kee Walk rooftop walkway system, both key components of a broader collective protection strategy.

Identifying the Risk

Like many modern buildings, the rooftop of this new facility included plant equipment and areas requiring regular inspection or maintenance. Without adequate edge protection or safe access pathways, the risk of serious injury from falls was high.

Top-Fix Guardrail System: We supplied and installed a top-fix guardrail, secured directly to the building’s parapet. This system provides permanent, robust edge protection without the need for counterweight, minimising roof load and preserving the membrane.

Kee Walk Rooftop Walkway: To enhance safety and ease of access, we installed a modular Kee Walk system, creating slip-resistant, clearly marked walkways that guide personnel safely across the roof surface while preventing damage to the structure.

Efficient Project Coordination: Working in partnership with our logistics supplier, all materials were delivered on schedule. Our certified installation team completed the job efficiently and safely, aligning with the contractor’s overall project timeline.
